    PRIVATE CAREER SCHOOLS COVID - 19 GUIDELINES FOR RETURN TO IN-PERSON INSTRUCTION

    Dear Students,

    Your safety and your well being remain important to us. New Jersey Private career schools are permitted to open for in-person instructions beginning on July 1, 2020 pursuant to Executive order No. 155. These are our restart plans put in place in accordance with guidelines laid out by CDC and New Jersey State to protect our students, Staff, and members of the public as we start our in-person Instructions.

     

    I. INFECTION CONTROL

    • Bergen Home Care will Perform health screenings for faculty, staff, students, and visitors.
    • Bergen Home care will not admit staff or students into the facility who feel sick or exhibit symptoms  common to COVID-19, including fever or chills, cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, fatigue, muscle or body aches, headache, new loss of taste or smell, sore throat, congestion or runny nose, nausea or vomiting, and diarrhea.
    • We will Provide individuals who are immunocompromised or at high risk for COVID-19 with the option to receive instruction remotely.

    II. PHYSICAL DISTANCING

    • We will enforce social distancing in classrooms, workstations, laboratories, clinical settings, and student seating areas through the school.
    • We will provide space desks and student seating areas throughout the facility six feet apart where feasible.
    • We will limit the number of persons present in the classroom to a maximum of 8 students for in-person instructions.

    III. CLOTH FACE COVERINGS

    • All faculty, staff, students, and visitors will be required to wear cloth face coverings except where doing so would inhibit the individual’s health.
    • We will provide information to staff and students on proper use, removal, and washing of cloth face coverings.

    IV. CLEANING AND DISINFECTION

    • We will Clean and disinfect classrooms and common areas after each usage.
    • We will Disinfect high-touch areas like desktops, light switches, doorknobs, periodically throughout the day.
    • We will Provide top-to-bottom cleaning of the facility at least daily

    V. HAND HYGIENE

    • We will Maintain adequate equipment and supplies for staff and students to wash and sanitize hands periodically.
    • We will Place hand sanitizer stations with 60 percent or more alcohol content at all building entry points and vantage points within the facility.
    • Students and staff will be given adequate break time to wash hands regularly.

    VI. EDUCATION AND TRAINING

    • We will Provide training for students regarding COVID-19, including topics such as sanitation, hand hygiene, and social distancing practices and protocols as a condition for resuming in-person instruction.
    • We will Provide training for faculty and staff on appropriate sanitization, hygiene and social distancing standards, and regarding the school’s restart plan protocols.
    • We will display CDC hand hygiene posters and other “How to Protect Yourself and Others” materials in English, Spanish, and other languages as needed.

    VII. VENTILATION

    • We will Consider methods to get in fresh air to individuals and properly utilize ventilation System such as
    • Maximizing fresh air through our ventilation system.

    ‒ Maintaining relative humidity at 40 to 60 percent.

    ‒ Ensuring restrooms are under negative pressure.

    ‒ Opening up windows during Lunch break to allow in fresh air.

     

    VIII. CONTROL ACCESS TO THE FACILITY

    • We will limit access to school grounds to only those authorized to be there.
    • All members of the public other than students, teachers and staff will be required to sign in and sign out and provide their contact information for contact tracing where needed.
    • We will record student attendance and keep logs of teachers and staff schedules.

    IX. STAYING INFORMED ON COVID-19 REGULATIONS

    • We will designate an Instructor to stay informed about daily developments and obligations relating to COVID-19
    • We will conduct Periodic meetings between Instructors and Staff to discuss issues that may affect our in-person training.
    • We will monitor any amendments to orders, guidelines, standards, and directives issued by the Governor, the NJ Board of Nursing, Department of Labor and workforce Development, Department of Education or the centers doe Disease control and Prevention.

  • HOME HEALTH AIDE CERTIFICATION COURSE

     

    Certified Home Health Aides (CHHA) are in demand in the workforce due to the increasing need to provide care for patients in the homes. This care has shown to decrease hospital stay and to permit the patient to be cared for in familiar, comfortable environmental. This 76 hours course is approved by NJ State Board of Nursing and follows an outlined curriculum set by the credentialing agency. This course provides skills training specific to home and hospice patient populations and requires 60 hours of classroom/Online and 16 hours of clinical laboratory instruction. Students will learn to care for the ill and disabled individuals confined to their home or as a private care assistant in a nursing home environment and be able to:

    • Perform selected direct patient care skills
    • Assist a patient with daily hygiene needs and personal grooming
    • Observe and report health status to supervising Registered Nurse
    • Prepare meals and recognize proper nutrition according to life stages
    • Identify appropriate activity level according to life stages
    • Identify the importance of spiritual needs of the patients
    • Identify and employee appropriate communication skills

    Tuition reimbursement is possible. Textbook provided. Upon completion of the course, students must complete a skills evaluation and written test administrated by CSI.

     

    Please be advised that all students will be fingerprinted and must submit to a criminal background check in order to register and become certified though the New Jersey Department of Health Services. There is an additional fees of $80.00 to be paid to the New Jersey Board of Nursing for licensing purposes not reflected in the tuition.

    Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA's) are in demand in the workforce due to the increasing need to provide patients within rehabilitation centers, long-term care facilities, and for senior care at senior housing. This 90 hour course is approved by NJ State Board of Nursing and follows an outlined curriculum set by the credentialing agency. This course provides 50 hours of classroom and 40 hours of clinical laboratory instructions which prepare the students to pass the New Jersey State Certified Nursing Assistant Certification Exam. Students will learn to apply the proper skills to care for the ill, elderly, and disabled who reside in residential or nursing facilities. After completion of the course students will be able to:

     

    • Perform selected direct patient care skills
    • Assist a patient with daily hygiene needs and personal grooming
    • Observe and report health status to supervising Registered Nurse
    • Prepare meals and recognize proper nutrition according to life stages
    • Identify appropriate activity level according to life stages
    • Identify the importance of spiritual needs of the patients
    • Identify and employee appropriate communication skills

     

    Upon completion of the course, students must complete a skills evaluation and written test administrated by CSI.
